I always have trouble with transferring custom brushes either going to me or away Remember Orb's brushes yeah none of them worked for me , anyways if it still doesn't work the alfa is included just apply that to a standard brush and it should work fine. Also go into the brush options to make it roll. Other than that you should be good to go.
Sorry for the inconvenience I thought this would have been real easy to do.
Make a custom brush and post on internet right?
Pedro had a really cool method of doing this. Have you watched his video? I can't find the link maybe he or someone else has it. It might help you with the brush.
So here is the alfa if anyone is still having a problem
Here are the settings I'm using @Monophobe: I was working it all night last night to get it working and I even made a zipped folder with literally nothing in it. I wasn't that tired, I think my computer was being weird. @Jeff Parrott: I'm not familiar with Pedro's method. I did go through Orb's cracks tutorial except a lot of stuff was going over my head at the time. Now I'm a bit more proficient on brush making, ha not much though. I still need to go through and learn all Z Brush 4 has to offer. @sltrOlsson: Love your face great idea @snoops3d Thanks man!
smoothing it out on the edges of where you start and stop also helps, to obtain that welded look.
I have done all 3 types of welding myself. hooray for metals class.
Hey thats some really nice work on the welding Beads. i am a boilermaker welder by trade only thing i can say is there is different patterns for different metals / different forms of welding (mig, tig, arc, Sub Arc, brazing/oxy) and different positions. stainless steel, mild steel and aluminium/copper/titanium Also depends on if the weld is vertical horizontal or overhead. if you want more explanation/information or good picture reference for anything to do with the metals industry feel free to ask.
@drazeni Thanks man I didn't get to try that many metals in my metals class but I did get to try (gas, mig, and arc) always wanted to try tig though, but I must say arc is my favorite of the ones I have tried, mig a close second my dad just got a new mig welder you can change the electricity flow to match how thick the metal is, it's pretty slick. I know of sub arc but not too much and I'm not familiar with brazing/ oxy, I am interested to see the different welds on different metals. I got to be honest I did make this for a one size fits all welding brush since the general populace just sees a weld seam. But I am curious.
@sltrOlsson no prob man Z brush is special. I dunno great program but you really have to devote your time to figure out which way is up sometimes.
@dudealan2001 yeah most people would not even be able to tell, but depends on how authentic you want stuff to be. brazing is done with the Oxy(gas) welding for things like copper pipe or fancy art stuff. also Welds leave heat lines that follow the welds that can look sick they can be different colors depending on the Gas/heat/metal they are normally Blue/gold/silver and copper colors like this
@Drazeni ahh ok I gotcha now yeah ok, this would be done in the texture work.
and as much as my image above looks finished I was actually just doing a Zbrush Render Test but when I do use this welding brush for my project I will be sure to include this! thanks so much!
no prob's its not really that important but it looks cool i keep opening zbrush and then banging my head against my desk and till i close it 5 min later.
hope my teacher makes learning it easy but i dont have to worry about that till end of 1st year.
@Drazeni like @dudealan2001 said, it will be very beneficial to work out the interface before hand.
I have been teaching myself Zbrush for the past couple months and I am a lot more efficient in it now. The first week is the hardest as stuff is all over the place. I would have loved to of studied 3D, but I chose a degree I shouldn't of and therefore started teaching myself.
But yea, good luck in your studies, enjoy yourself and work hard!

EDIT: Strange, on reloading the alpha is there. Works fine, cheers
what version of zbrush are you using? If it's older than 4r5 the brush won't work, so maybe that's why zbrush doesn't when you add it to presets?

and when you finally take the class you are going to be able to blow every one away.
