Hello, I'm starting a small project and felt like posting my progress from start, so I can get some feedback while i'm actually working on it.
Lately I got more and more interested in creature design and sculpting...
Sorry about the quick follow-up post, but i wanna keep this organized.
Soooo first project:
Butterfly Monk
An alien vaguely moth-inspired intelligent byped creature.
To do:
-Sculpt.
-Retopo, baking and texturing.
-basic scene and final render.
I'm kind of struggling with the shot. I want it to be this superbright cathedralesque feel... This is my first attempt, but it's definately not done...
^ looks nice so far just the neck looks a little freaky in my opinion. That area is usually less pronounced and more soft & subtle on kids and stylized characters. Maybe you could take away some of that black above his clavicles and shrink the neck a bit.
Sorta like this
But its your art so you don't have to change it if you really don't want to and it'll be hidden with that cape anyways.
thanks, defunct. i agree with your critique.
first thing i thought was "it doesn't matter, the cape wll hide it". but acually i think it'd be good practice to just fix it anyway.

I'll be texture painting now.
I need to fix the background image.
