Hello,

My name is Steve, I’m currently a final year Game Design student. I will graduate in July and after that, I would like to start my first major indie project - for that, I need a team to work with. I’m looking for enthusiastic individuals to join with me in creating an indie team.

I’m not requiring people to have any previously released games or mods - however, you must be able to show that you have created something in the field you’re interested in and generally show that you’re as serious about this as I am. Once I am done with university, I will be treating this as a full-time job and will spend as much time as possible on it. Therefore, it would be great to find some people in the same situation as me or with the same amount of time and dedication as I have.

In the best case scenario, this project would be produced to a standard that could eventually allow it to be sold for a small cost, which I hope to cover living costs. As of yet, I don’t currently own any commercial software licenses, however I am more than willing to spend money on licensing once the desired software has been established (UDK, Photoshop etc).

Previous Experience

Of course, since I want to see your work, it’s only fair you see mine. I’ve worked on several pieces, both for educational purposes and also for personal interests. I have in the past worked with people on projects and have a few things to show for myself such as levels, models, texturing, coding and animation.

Game Ideas

Realistically, a game I may want to make shouldn’t be the focus of this project. My ideas should be equal to those of whomever I create this project with. For that reason, I don’t have an exact idea of what I want to make. However, I am mostly interested in making a game with atmosphere and emotion. Something with interesting story, characters or environments.
When I think of games that I consider to be some of my favourites and most inspirational, I think of games like LIMBO, Amnesia: TDD, Half-Life, Legend of Grimrock, Metro 2033. Preferably, whoever I work with will share similar interests.

Desired Team Structure

I feel that the team should be as minimal as possible. We don’t need producers, team managers or numerous people filling the same role. The major roles that need filling would be:

Programmer
Level designer
Modeller and animator
Pre-production would be a team involvement and each member could and should have their part in the design and concepts of this project. Any roles that may need filling at a later date could be outsourced or recruited if essential.

My primary role in this team would be Level Design. However, I’m willing to help with modelling, texturing and basically any other parts of the team that I may be able to help with if needs be.
