Does anyone know where I can find some examples of good uv mapping for a drivable vehicle like a dune buggy or hummer?
I am trying to fit everything on one 1024 texture map but I am having trouble making space for everything on one sheet and maintaining a consistent resolution for all the parts.

And basically everything on there.
I deleted all the parts that are reused throughout the vehicle, that is why a good portion of the low poly is missing.
I did this because that way i only need to bake one low poly part and just duplicate it in the other places it is used throughout the vehicle.
The rainbow abomination is what i have mapped so far and reduced to low poly geo. The 'clean' screenshots are of the high poly vehicle in maya so you can see what it is supposed to look like.
In the UV maps. the left side is all of the engine parts in the back of the vehicle.
The right side is what i've so far mapped.
The way I'm going about is it mapping the parts individually then after I've done that, I have been trying the fit them in. Things are all over the place right now because I am still mapping some of the parts and haven't found a way to fit them in the square yet. At this point in just trying to map everything so there isn't a tangle of uvs all over the square.
So yeah I feel like there are probably easier ways to go about doing this but I'm not sure how to approach it.
The wheels and seats will have their own maps so they arent a problem.
It's the roll cage and engine- im just not sure how to fit them in, even if i overlap stuff.
also you can ignore the poly count, not all low poly yet
