Neversoft Entertainment, located in Woodland Hills, CA is currently seeking an experienced Sr. Visual Effects Technical Artist to work on our new FPS. This person will join our current tech art team in creating various visual effects. The ideal candidate is someone who is a strong artist while being organized, creative, motivated, and flexible.

Primary responsibilities include:
• Building both game-common and level specific visual effects using our in-house effects editor with a focus on realism.
• Integration of effects into the game and sequence them as needed.
• Building effects as part of larger cinematic sequences.
• Work across other departments to achieve high quality results.
• Understand how all the different pieces of the content pipeline work together and how best to implement your latest and greatest idea.
• Execute on Art Direction’s goals and vision via various reference materials.
• This position calls for someone who is a good problem solver with a keen attention to detail, and ability to think around corners.

Must have qualifications include:
• A strong passion for and experience with First Person Shooters
• At least 5 years of professional video games experience or 3 shipped games; current console experience is required (X360, PS3).
• Visual Effects authoring experience, including particle effects, effects animation, and screen effects.
• A clear understanding of the art production process for different types of video game assets and the ability to communicate well with other artists and programmers to solve visual and technical problems.
• Ability to visually debug problems and offer solutions that work within the game pipeline/runtime.

Additional skills, of which you must possess at least three include:
• General scripting experience (Python, C#, Perl, MAXScript, MEL …you will have to learn our in-house tools).
• 3DS Max or Maya experience
• Experience with simulation software a plus – Real Flow, FumeFX, Houdini, etc.
• Basic knowledge of Linear Algebra
• Ability to concept and/or author real-time shaders.
