Hey guys,
Work is really bogging me down badly, so I am modelling this in what ever spare time I have. Currently started on the high poly. It isn't a specific hummer, so hopefully this turns out pretty cool looking.
First of all nice attitude towards your 3D work. I admire that you still have the enthusiasm to make something when your very busy worth other stuff.
Look nice mate. Interesting tactic with the doors. I would have built the roof first. But this just made me think perhaps making doors first is easier... When I get home from work I'm going to try this!
I'm no expert in the way a hummer is built but your doors look a little too smoothed over perhaps you might need to sharpen the edges. (Seeming as its a high poly go nuts!?)
Im not fully agree with you Josh, that sharpness is very good for normalmaps, but yes, at the window, its a little too smoothed. Otherwise it looks very good atm.
I don't know mate. Every time I come back to this post you have another high Polly peace. You might end up hurting your self. Haha. Will you be modeling the windscreen wipers? Fool looks good but doesn't the H2 have a more rounded window on top? From what little pictures I have seen but yer,
This looks awesome.
Will you go the full way, like modelling the under carriage or interior? Is this High Poly Hardsurface practive or will this be actually be low poly game art?
Those details everywhere, great. Those details on the wheels definitely pay off.
I would suggest you though, to block out the whole car first, so you'll can check the proportions. Might make things easier.
@OddEyes; Thanks. I might end up modelling the under carriage, but I am not sure if I can be pushed to do the interior. I work 60 hours a week, so its really hard to find time to model at the moment. I am heading in another direction, career wise, so this has become a relaxing hobby.
@Maxivz; Thanks buddy. I can get some wireframes for the next update.
And you thought I disappeared! Really good to see your work brotha. Adding some side skirts, steps and a muffler can really enhance the lower part of the hummer. Maybe to personalize it a bit, add a canoe or some outdoor equipment attached to the top so it shows where this thing is going and it will give some character to that car.
Hi JoltZero,
Thanks!
Yes, it is still very much High poly. Some parts don't have turbo smooth applied or need some adjustments to come out smoother. Sorry for the confusion.
Playing with my presentation and background. I always had a hard time figuring out what worked good for the background. Hopefully this looks good for the small shots.
Thanks man! I posted this in my portfolio thread, but might as well put it in the right thread. I am almost done the entire bottom of the hummer, but currently working on low poly things for my portfolio. I want to have this done by next month some time if I can find time.
Those engine pieces are amazing man! Great work! The shapes you have running into other shapes, and keeping them all one object is kind of blowing my mind.
chassis is looking great. you might want to add welds around the towing lugs and such, but apart from that i can't really see much wrong with it.
and presentation is very slick and professional.
Thanks guys! @dejawolf; Thanks man, ya, you are right. I'll add that on my next updates. @JamesTKirk; Man, I'm still debating it. I don't know how insane I am. lol.
I had a few hours to spare today;
Edit; Here are some max grabs. I'm having a bit to much fun with the layers lol.
@JamesTKirk; Ya, I'm going to try that as well. I was also thinking of having a scroll down image where you can see the parts kind of "exploded". Time is not on my side at the moment, so I will see what I can do, lol.
How... Why?? I both hate you and love you at the same time! is that even possible? Awesome work there mate! keep that stuff rolling! one question, how did you make the engine parts?

Keep up the good work.
Small update on the wheels;

Fun in max with colors. Last update of the day:
Keep it up!
Running these through keyshot if anyone is wondering. Modeling is done in 3ds max.
Thanks!

Great job
Dunno if I want to take the underside any further:
I'm debating with presenting with a full color scheme, or something grey like this.

TINY update:
I think I am calling this High poly done, hope you guys enjoyed the process.
