Hey, all! It's been a while since I started a thread on here. How's everyone feeling today?
I wanted to share a project I'm doing on the side with you and get some feedback along the way as I do it.
I noticed this wonderful piece of concept art on cghub earlier this week by the talented Toonji Hong (

I loved the mood and atmosphere of this piece. And while it's fairly obvious where our eye is being led, I adored the design of the dwarf character on the right. It started as something fun I wanted to do on a sunday night and kind of evolved into this now:
A lot of it is still in the early blocking out phase. The only things that are defined are the hard surface details I added in yesterday.
My direction is to try and keep the endearing characteristics of him. I haven't done a lot of fur/hair treatments before. If anyone has any valuable advice, I'd appreciate it. Otherwise, I'm going to use masking and standard brushes to pull those details out.
I also really like this sculpt done by Adam Fisher (
http://adamfisher.cghub.com/) of Lycan from DOTA 2:
So I hope to draw a lot of inspiration from his simple, but really efficent style of rendering the forms and the subtle wear he applied towards the end.
Thanks all!
