Technical Directors - Toronto, Ontario Canada
Arc Productions, a Canadian based CG animation and visual effects facility located in downtown Toronto is looking for Technical Directors to join the team. With over 250 artists and technical directors and the most up to date resources available, we bring the vision to both major Hollywood studios and independent producers to life in a wide array of formats: theatrical features, television, DVDs, shorts and game cinematics.

Reports to: Head of Technology
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Technical Director is responsible for designing, developing and improving production focused pipeline workflow processes. This can include developing tools, workarounds, plugins, etc. Technical Directors may also be called on to do shot work when necessary during production and to assist other members of the team as required.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Troubleshoot, design and implement production tools, using Maya, Python, and other 3D CG production software.
· Collaborate with Production Management on utilization of production tools and workflow processes.
· Design and execute project work plans to produce known deliverables on a pre-determined timetable.
· Be aware of new technologies, techniques, and processes that will benefit studio’s production processes for current and future projects.
· Work independently and collaboratively as required
· Share and present new research, ideas and technology with others in the studio.
· Perform shot work/fixes as required during production.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
· 3+ years of CG experience
· CG and Feature Film experience an asset
· Experience with Renderman
· Experience working with Maya, Mentalray, MTMR, Fusion, or equivalents.
· Experience with WxPython
· Experience using various scripting languages - primarily Python, Mel, CShell
· Experience in some other object-oriented programming language
· Experience designing user interfaces
· Excellent troubleshooting/debugging skills
· Good communication skills
· Time management and prioritization skills
· Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
· Flexible and adaptable to change
· Must be able to read, write and speak English
· Coach and mentor junior coworkers as required
