The torso study is insane
Your lighting on the environment studies is real good

Not much digital stuff these days
An 1h speed painting study of Prometheus
You're doing really good stuff here. It's great to see you working on environments here, you seem to have a good grasp on them. Keep up the good work, look forward to seeing more!
Here's a WIP of my brother's badass character :poly135:

The purpose of the studies range from experimentation to profound analysis... some just trying stuff from scratch without reference others doing some kind of reverse "engineering" throughout visual art and design foundations. The amount of time spent is usually short(between 20 minutes to 1 hour), but some few are longer (2 or 3 hours).
Some digital studies:
Master study in sanguine:
A pencil sketch:
An "Alla Prima" oil painting:
And an orc sketch
I use photoshop CS6. Some brushes are from other artists, some come with the software(like those of the bears) and I make my own if I need to.
Camping in the woods.
Going back to the basics to try stuff.
and a superfastie sketch
Yeah some brushwork is too ew :S hahahhahaha... super noisy and disturbingly strong. I'm trying hard to avoid such horrible marks :S and thank you by sharing your thoughts!
I started with zspheres kinda building an skeletal armature, then I used zsketch to lay in muscle masses, then I sculpted to polish, add some tendons and set the gesture of main wrinkles and fat masses.
Btw, take a look at New Masters Academy, believe me, you will love it... Glenn Vilppu, Steve Huston, Joe Weatherly and the list goes on... 8D
Well here is the 30m speedpaint. The theme was "water elemental".
Now, the speedpainting developed further. I think it's rather a water spirit than a water elemental.
