I stepped out of my comfort zone and tried something organic/creature with this guy. Just something to have fun with, I used a variety of reference from grubs to flies just to create something new and disgusting looking. Would love some feedback from the more experienced character/creature artists out there!

Looks pretty cool! What program did you use for modeling?
The texture for the compound eyes is off. Aside from some stretching and moire patterns in lower resolutions, the square layout just doesn't occur in nature. Compound eyes are always arranged in a hexagonal layout.
I can't figure out the purpose of the 'arms' at the top of the thorax (where you'd expect to find the wings), nor why the wings are attached to the top of the abdomen. Placing the wings that far aft would cause serious problems to the bug when it tries to fly.
BertR - High poly sculpt in zBrush, low poly re-topo in zBrush, UV's and eyes in Maya, baked in Xnormal.
Dwalker - Thanks, good feedback! The anatomy is off a little bit on purpose. I had some happy accidents with the initial zspheres sketch and ran with it The arms/horns coming out of his head were a debate, they look nothing like a traditional insect. The eyes I want to re-visit some time, so thanks for pointing that out. I'll have to figure out a new way to tackle them.
