Good morning, Polycount
i decided to stop lurking around, and post something I am working on.
This time i want to make it better than my older works. I'm lacking skill especially in making textures and bake clean maps. I'm looking for advice on my highpoly model, before i bake it. I think some edges are too sharp. Should i soften them?
And is it wrong to design the HP mesh for easy lowpoly conversation, so you have only to remove some loops?
Greetings

Some of the edges might be a bit too sharp, like the top of the stock and some of the floating geo
You also have a varying edge width on the stock, it's tight at the top and then smooths out. I don't know if this was intentional or not but in general it's something you should avoid.
And as long as you don't get any unwanted pinching from the loops that's fine.
I will decrease the sharpness and rework the stock at some places.

Maybe gone a little bit overboard with the polycount. Marmoset shows that is has 14200 tris.
A few details are still missing or are wrong:
Thanks for the reply I think i can easily add the engravings, but meh, it really bugs me out that i havent noticed that the edge under the trigger is curved. I think I have to collect more reference in the future.

Haha you are insane :poly124: . The serial number is stamped in at the ejection port (not sure how to call this thing). Arent these "Bechusszeichen" very small? I don't think that you would see them on my pretty inefficient maps xD
But thanks for sharing these! I will keep them in mind when i model my next weapon.
