It has its appeal to me. AOEII was a darned good game. Honestly, I prefer if Ensemble was still around to do a proper Age of Empires IV. This is about the next best thing.

yeah it look so super dated, so the change is, instead of rendering the scene at 800x600 they just render Xtimes more screens in a bigger resolution - the animation, the overall art, everything is just the same. and sure doesn't look that good anymore, especially not with the 12fps or whatever those animations have

so yeah basically its just a reuse of the old game, to get some cash.

Did you watch the trailer? They redid everything. They just made it look how we remember it. IMO this took a lot of craft. SO bye bye shitty fire animations, hello proper animations, plus upscaled pixel graphics that didn't completely change the art direction, but complement it. It gets a :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup: from me!

Oh man, so many nights throughout high school and college playing for hours on end. SO psyched for this. I like what they're doing with the visuals. They are clearly a little higher quality but still look just how I remember them.

I actually love how they've done it. It looks to have kept a lot of the old school feel but just improved all round. Plus if it makes playing multiplayer simple.. I'm sold.

This looks way better than the Baldur's Gate remake, which made no real effort to improve resolution or graphics, and had trash multiplayer support.

Will definately get this.

And I'm actually not mad about this. Trying to run AOE II on Windows 7 only causes headaches, and the additions (even small) are very much appreciated. I'm very much looking forward to rocking this!

It was a pain to get it to run on Windows 7 or with Nvidia laptop drivers without screwing something, so this is awesome!

I wonder what the steam workshop will be used for. Only maps/campaigns?

#2 was way better. I was really disappointed in #3 actually. Not that it's a bad game, I just had higher hopes I guess.

Well, if they did redux a lot more like remodeling every sprite, could you imagine the magnitude of bitching from the purists and competitive players in the community? If you update more than enough, you'll 'betray' them. Probably why they haven't touched up things much beyond the the terrain.

I know the feeling. Darkstalkers Resurrection has terrible new portraits, for example (ugh)

Cash nevertheless - i like the idea too and i think its not too bad that they doesnt change too much. Alot worse could be a free2play rip off with buyin options.
