Reach Studios is Looking for Artists and Programmers

Hi everyone, it's Adrian from Reach Studios here and we're looking for a number of talented people to come and work on our unannounced RPG project for next-generation systems.

Reach Studios is a fresh studio based in Sydney, Australia with talented, industry-experienced staff who want to make something delightfully new for the genre.

As such, we're looking for a number of people to join our team.

Lead Engineer:
As a Lead Engineer on our project, you'll be building on your experience as a programmer and with various videogame engines (CryENGINE 3 experience a plus) to assist with the writing of the programming for the game, as well as assist with troubleshooting for the rest of the Technical team. You'll also be in charge of maintaining and managing the various builds of the game. You'll have a vast proficiency in various programming languages.

Programmers:
We're after programmers and scripters to join our team. Applicants should potentially have past experience with creating videogames (though not absolutely necessary), and for bonus points, should have experience working with CryENGINE 3 (we're in the final stages of licensing, so if you have experience with more than just the FreeSDK version of CryENGINE 3, that's even better).

Super duper extra bonus points if you have experience with dev kits. This isn't totally necessary though, as we'll have that equipment in our Sydney location with a team that can handle that side of development.

3D Character Modellers and Riggers/Animators [w/ High Poly Expertise]
We're looking for 3d modellers and riggers who potentially have experience working with higher poly counts than most current-generation games. The power of next-generation systems allow us to experiment with higher poly counts given the power of those systems.

These modellers should be comfortable with modelling human anatomy (and other types of characters/creatures).

Riggers should be comfortable with potentially using motion-capture reference video/other files for animating.

Experience with 3DS Max, Maya, and other related software a plus.

3D Architecture Modellers:
If you've got experience with building buildings and making realistic and believable architecture, we want you. We're after 3d modellers to make gorgeous architecture to fill our world. From small to large projects, if you're comfortable with buildings and architectural design, we want you.

Texture/Shader Artists:
We're looking for texture artists with a strong understanding of the art pipeline to join our team. You'll be creating stunning game art while maintaining performance on next-generation hardware. You'll be good at communicating to the rest of the team and can deal with high-quality work and little supervision.

Lead Artist:
You'll be in charge of consulting with the design and creative teams of the project to come up with the overall "artistic direction" for the project. You'll be drawing on your experience to develop the artistic view for the game, and then be working with the entire Art team to bring that view to fruition.

Concept Artists [CHARACTER/CREATURE/ENVIRONMENTAL/PROPS/ARCHITECTURAL]:

Character: You'll be drawing and painting (mostly human/oid) characters. You'll also be responsible for creating conceptual images (from multiple viewpoints) that are concise and clear for the team. You'll be working with the rest of the art team (and a Lead Artist) increating reference images and instructional documentation if needed which supports the conceptual designs to create designs which are consistent with the vision.

Creature: You'll be responsible for drawing and painting all types of animals and creatures (both realistic and potentially fictious) for the project. You'll be making conceptual images from different viewpoints that are clear for the whole studio to understand, together with putting together reference images and documentation which supports the designs if necessary. You'll also work a Lead Artist in creating designs that are consistant with the vision of the project.

Environmental: You have to be able to visualize and come up with conceptual designs for beautifully imaginitive environments which fit the thematic ideas of the project in any given gnre. you should be able to work quickly from idea to sketch to finished concept. You'll be working with level designers and architects as well as the rest of the Art team to build a believable, yet realistic world that drops jaws.

Props: As a props concept artist, you'll come up with designs that fit the thematic consistency of the project for various uses - both cosmetic and active items in the game world. You should be an all-round artist, but particularly good at finding and drawing on fine detail.

Architectural: As an architectural concept artist, you'll be working with the Lead Artist, Art team and particularly the environmental concept artist to make believable, yet creative architectural designs which will be brought to life in the project. You'll also be working with the level designer to ensure that any designs are practical when it comes to use in-game. You'll have a sound knowledge of lighting as well.

Payment:
This project is starting as an indie project, and therefore payment is not available to begin with. We're aiming to have a certain experience of the game ready within the next 6+ months to take to potential publishers who we have already spoken to and have expressed interest in the project.

We also have a number of other funding plans going forth to ensure that this project can continue in some way or form.

Of course, any work that is done on this project will absolutely be remunerated once funding has been secured for work that has been done and for work that continues from that point onwards.

We're looking for people who are excited to work on next-generation systems and are looking for a friendly "studio environment" to work in. We're all extremely professional and have industry experience, and we're excited to move this project along. Reach Studios and the project we are working on have both been planned for months and we're ready to welcome some new faces to the studio!

APPLY:
To apply, please send your resumes/portfolios to: jobs@reachgamestudios.com.

Keep in mind we do also offer spaces for those with little/no past portfolio, so do get in touch with us even if you don't necessarily have past experience in the industry but would love to get your name on something that will potentially be amazing. This is a wonderful studio to join for those that want to "break into" the industry.
