ESCAPE - Earths Outer Orbit - Auldbenkenobi

Hey guys!
Really like the idea of this contest, and after seeing the cover image I instantly had an idea, mostly inspired by the wee Spaceman crawling from his wreckage. I banged it around in my head for a while and I think I've finally decided on something I'd like to do, incorporating a spaceman of some sort.
Simply put, I've always loved the idea of escaping from Earth's orbit and floating among the stars and I'd like to capture this in my entry. The way I'm currently picturing it, is to have my space man floating toward the viewer, arm outstretched with his command capsule and the Earth behind behind him.
I'm really going to try and do well with this, as I'd like to practice making figure base meshes and to get a solid grip on photo-realistic textures. With a little luck and a lot self discipline I should hopefully make this a reality!
