Hi guys, i would like to hear some advice from you guys on how i could give some depth to my racing tracks ?
I am working on a racing game, and the racing track look so empty.
It is probably because we don't have enough assets for the moment, but i would like to get idea on how i could give a good depth feeling with only few assets ?
On thing i have noticed on old school racing game that where limited in polygon count was the fact that they surround the track with a forest or surround track with a high wall, so we cannot see the outside scenery.
Then they just put some buildings to give the illusion that there is a world behind those walls, so that way they give the illusion of depth without showing anything..
Do you have any other technique to achieve the same kind of mood ?
Sorry about my non native English.

Also have a look at on-board race footage around tracks to see what makes the track special - overhanging advert signs, marker boards (150, 100, 50), even pedestrian bridges.
