Hi guys,

I was wondering, what is the best way to get a low poly model from an high poly objects that consists out of several meshes. I think an image is easier to explain what I mean.

As you can see here, ORB starts off with a model consisting out of multiple smaller objects that form a complete object. And in the end he ends up with just 1 mesh. What is the best way to go from a high poly model to a low poly model like this?

Here is another example

I looked up some tutorial but couldn't find anything that came close to what I am looking for. I hope you guys can help me with this one!

Thanks in advance!

Depends on the model, but for things like the examples above, you'd most likely export the high-poly meshes from zbrush/mudbox into your 3d package of choice (ie max / maya / modo / blender) and build a low-poly mesh around your highpoly. If you started with a low-poly base then you'd most likely just use that, removing any uneeded loops that were added to give you good sculpting topology.

With organic meshes (like characters) you'd use retopology tools to get your low poly, programs like 3d-coat, topogun are popular for this.
