3d Printing some art

I'm sorry this isn't quite game art, but I can imagine a few people on this board are interested.

I've been printing with a Makerbot Replicator2 and I printed a 6 inch version of my demon head I made a while back.

That's a fantastic quality print and a nice write up.

Was that printed with 3mm filament? And can you give us any details of the layer height or anything you used to get such a nice result? I've been interesting in getting/building a 3d printer. Most videos and such that I see though never got results quite like what you have there.

It was printed with the 1.75/1.8mm filament makerbot sells. The layer height is 270 microns. I've done prints at 100 but to do this size at that resolution would have taken 1.5 days to print....so...yeah

This is really cool, enjoyed the article. Did you paint the bust? I can imagine that would be fun.
How long will it be until your desk is covered in amazing little prints?

I haven't painted it yet, I still need to sand it a bit then paint. I haven't decided what colors I'll paint yet. My desk isnt covered yet I've been doing about 1-2 prints a week although this is by far the biggest I've done.
