I started working on this chainsaw by Remington (no, not the firearm manufacturer. I was disappointed to find that out. ^^) last week.
The goal of this project was to make a texture 100% with dDo while utilizing all its features such as custom details, object space regulated details, advanced custom tweaking and so on.
This is how it turned out.
The textures (1x 4k texture set for presentation)
And the wires.
I recorded the entire modeling process and I'll see if I can complile a timelapse if anyone would be interested. It's not pretty, though!
Finally done with the video of my workflow using dDo when texturing! It also covers nDo2, baking, color map creation, upscaling and a lot more!

Hope you like it!
Did you also record the texturing?
Cant wait to see the video, nice way to showcase ddo
@Jeff Parrott: Thank you! Glad you like it. We'll be releasing a huge tutorial on dDo very soon!
@Computron: Yep! I recorded everything.
@Shanthosa: A bit less than a work week I'd say. Thanks!
I uploaded the 1 HOUR (yikes!) long timelapse to Youtube. It's sped up by around 900%, so you might get a bit dizzy. ^^ It includes highpoly modeling, lowpoly modeling and UV mapping.

Will you produce a vid of the dDo process too?
Well, I did two variations. First I didn't model the details, test baked it, and it turned out really boring and flat, and seeing as it's right up in your face in first person view I decided to throw more love in that area.
Yep, we're working on a massive dDo tutorial as I write this.
What UV script are you using in your modeling video? I don't recognize it
Looking forward to the dDO tutorial. Hopefully I can get it working on my machine.
@Jeff: Thanks! Oh yeah, definitely good point :P.
@crazyfool: Thank you! Oh, no plugins for the retopo, just "Make Live". I really like it. Goes fast and easy to use. Only problem is the visibility at times, as you might've noticed with me toggling wireframe on and off all the time. You get used to it though.
also is that realtime AO in your viewport? how do?
p.s can we get the track ids of the songs you used in ur video :):)
@MeshModeler: Circles when making a selection? I'm not entirely sure what you mean I'm afraid. =/ I just have the default selection settings.
Yes, I have AO in the viewport, just to go the Options for Viewport 2.0 (Render -> Viewport 2.0 (Option box)).
The songs are from Audiojungle. The first one is called All Around and the second one is called Liftoff. I might be mistaken though.
and apologies on the selection question, it was actually youtube giving me some weird playback artifacts ha
Oh, haha! Yeah I was getting a bit confused there.
Tack i förväg och grymt jobbat!
Glad to hear you learned something from watching it!
It is about 10 hours in real-time I'd guess. Been working with 3D since late '07, so that's a bit more than 5 years.

And thanks for the answers earlier.
