Why does my texture look so damn low-res on my character?
It's 1024x1024, and the UV is not the problem because the little squiggle i drew at a test on the chest is done on his abs, which is a flat-front exact projection with no possibility of stretching. Just trying to make this simple cell shade, some help would be appreciated!

If you are using Direct 3D in the viewport preferences check Match Bitmap.
However I'm not sure what Direct3D is, so I doubt that I have that if it isn't a default.
The option you need to change are here.
No change at all
But i need it in max.

Then you need to Reload your bitmaps. Sometimes this button doesn't work, so you may need to close and restart Max to reload the textures.

And thanks all of you others who tried to help me as well!
In general, Bitmap reload only updates the internal bitmap caches when the external file has changed...
The best method i use for this is toggling of the viewport display of that material, switch to wireframe/and back to shaded mode, reenable material display in the material editor. Works for me most of the time, no need to restart Max
