Matching Color in PS?

How do you go about getting the right color for something? Here's my specific goal. I've been looking for a good moss texture for a long time. I've never really found one that is EXACTLY what I want. Usually the picture is taken too close and the details are too big. So earlier today I decided to try a new approach. I've got pictures of carpet that I think I can use if I can just get the color right.
I've desaturated the carpet image but I"m having trouble making it a convincing green.

Did you tried to mix a hue/saturation layer combined with custom gradient map ?

Ya first thing I tried was a color layer, then hue/sat, hue/sat with colorize, and match color. I just can't really get the color right. Maybe I'm just being picky.

I'm gonna come back to it tomorrow. Sometimes it helps to sit on something like this.

Open a picture with the colour you want along with the "target" picture, and then try with Image---->Adjustment---->Match Color

Post an image of the color you're trying to match. Maybe it requires a different approach.
