Greetings one and all,
I decided to take the plunge, more or less - decided enough was enough, as my Dual Core laptop running a GeForce 9300m GS was nowhere near cutting it. Especially since it's falling apart after ~4 years of intensive use.
I have a mid-range desktop on its way to me (will post pics when I get it) - this is not my high-end dream machine, so keep that in mind. The question is: what can I expect to be my limits in terms of what I can do in Max and UDK?
Specs:
>Carbide 200R case
>Intel i5 3470 (best price-to-performance I could get) with stock cooler
>Basic, kinda meh H61 mobo
>8GB RAM (going to double this when I have money again)
>EVGA GTX 660 SC
>Corsair 600W PSU
Any experience, benchmarks, etc.. from GTX 660 owners very welcome.
Fun fact: due to a very generous girlfriend, this build cost about £250 of my money.

If you do, I've heard that it's a far better idea to get it from MSI rather than EVGA due to better cooling, although the EVGA cooler seems to be pretty damn good anyway.
I'm getting the non ti version, since I already went a little over-budget with this build. From what I've seen on youtube, I should be more than able to comfortably play DmC and Far Cry 3 at 1080p. Also I think there was a thread by one of the 3pointstudio people here that demonstrated the capacity of the 660 in 3ds max. With any luck, I'll be able to actually use the latest UDK without crippling lag or my hardware melting whenever I want to use translucency.
