Alright going to call this project finished, but please feedback and critics are very welcome. Even feedback that I can take into future projects would be great.
The concept is done by Feng Zhu. Rendered in Marmoset, sorry still need to properly learn UDK. Softwares/Tools- Maya, Photoshop, nDo2, Xnormal.
the surface feels quite bare compared to the concept, but overall model looks nice.
but, why the hell would there be modern labels on a pseudo WWII tank, and written in english?
also, footprints don't look convincing to me. if they had low opacity and were more rough and varied they would work better.
Your tank has no powertrain and suspension. Even tho these concepts are pure fantasy i would spent some time doing research before your next project so the mechanical parts make some sense. This thing would literaly fall apart as it is.
Not a bad start, but like Steppenwolf said, do research on tanks to see how they actually work/function before running off and modeling a concept on a fictional tank. I am looking at Feng Zhu's concept and there are way too many, "that would never happen" moments in there. The only thing that resembles a German tank in that concept are the ball mounts. (I am not counting the the iron cross or the swastikas... but don't get me wrong, the concept is cool). I would say, go model some real world tanks/vehicles/aircraft, get more familiar the hows, and whys, of the way these things are built so you can recognize clear design errors. Remember the golden role, form follows function! Still, good job on what you have! and good luck in your future modeling, your off to a great start.
Understanding the "the hows and why things are build " is something I plan to improve. Now I look at projects at have done before and can clearly see that the engineering does not make sense.
Just a quick question to anyway that has time to leave some feedback?
Does the texturing look satisfying or can that use some major reconstruction?
I have always had a love and hate relationship with texturing, which is why I am asking.
I agree with the critics so far. I would also stress that I would not be able to guess what the tank is used for, based on its appearance, whereas that should be obvious. As for the textures work, one good barometer is to look at some games that are using tanks and try to at least match the quality, if not surpass it. For your concept, I would suggest comparing with these: http://worldoftanks.com/media/?tag=16
So far, I would say you are off to a good start on the textures, but you can make it better. Good luck.
