i refuse to believe this is an in game model. for me its a model for baking purposes, or a promotional one (such as the one seen in the end of the vidoc).

Didn't Bayonetta have fairly small, sectioned off environments? Since they have stricter control over what is shown on screen they can feasibly spend more polygons on assets.
No, they show her wireframe earlier in that video, no way its 200k tris, unless they reaally suck at distrubuting their polys : ) Also, the WiiU isnt very powerful : )

From the wireframe shots they showed, it looked more like 20k max for a character.

XSI is VERY popular in Japanese Game dev from what I've seen. Silent Hill 2 was produced in XSI, as was Metal Gear Solid from Snake Eater onwards.
