Good morning, Polycount... and this is my first post in a long time... I would like to share a model that I have been working on for quite some time, learning the new tools of Zbrush, mainly panel loops and the topology brush. The inspiration for the armour design was from playing Mass Effect and Crysis, and I really wanted to see how much I get out of Zbrush with just using the panel loops.
I still need to do a detail pass and prepare the model for in game rendering inside of Unity... this is a work in progress...
Nice I like it and for some reason this seems really familiar to me and I do not know why.
Maybe try an inverted color scheme black/red instead of the red/black just to see which is better you might even go a totally different direction.
I am planning on a different colour scheme, the red and black just stuck with me while i was working on this... I am thinking of doing black and grey... but I will experiment with this... Still working on the low poly mesh of this character
Its looking good so far. But, for me at least it seems a bit generic. Theres nothing really wow about the design so far. It did instantly remind me of an ironman / crysis nanosuit blend which is not a bad thing. Just work on making it a bit more unique. Keep it up!
if he has clothes under it must be extremely tight and he cant walk since the armor piece on top of his foot prevents him from bending it at all, the armor goes too high up on his thighs/hip, it´ll cut into him if he tries to walk.
@Moltazia: Hey man... thanks... this is not a metal armour... my intention was to have this as a flexible material similar to kelvar... I could easily move these pieces around and edit them at will in Zbrush, since it will go into a normal map. Think of Batman and his suit...
As for him being able to see, he can see out of that single eye, which allows to see everything, like a camera. He can hear as well, i will be adding little details to the model in the texture phase. As for armour on his arms, his primary model has his arms covered up, so I wanted this one to show some skin. I have a friend who does tattoos giving me ideas.
looking forward too seeing it updated with the texture *thumbsup* i think itll look better when it does not read as hard plastic or metal but cloth.
wont be as much of a mindfuck on the whole taking a single step part.
is the pimary model the black and red one or is it yet to be seen?

The plating will be a very matte material with a slight specular... and I am not sure of a colour scheme yet, the black and red was just a visualisation for me. I am thinking of a dark green (desaturated) black and a dark grey... thinking of batman in this regard...
Hey guys, started texturing this bad boy... I am only use base colours atm as I carefully edit the normal map for maximum detail... all renders are taken from Unity... more to come as I am still working on the head part of the model and adding texture variation. The arms are not done... I am using a special shader for the skin...
Hey guys, finally got this bad body finished... had to do a little colour correction from Unity but I got it looking good... and I am ready to move on to another character...enjoy.
The all black/grey scheme doesn't work for me but it looks good as a final.
Perhaps some green or black/red camo where the chain mails is would come off better, but it is your character good work either way.

The pockets on his thighs are nice
so maybe break it up more?

@RaPtoR: That eye is meant to be a scare tactic

Noted. Thank god these are an easy fix
Thanks man...
