Hi guys, I'm abit stuck with a problem and hoping someone could point me in the right direction. I'm sculpting a guy with some tights over his head (he's a back robber). Now the problem I have is that I'm trying to get rips in the tights (as in the photo) but the detail is so minute that I'm having trouble getting it to look right. Normally I would put that sort of detail in a texture map, but the brief I'm working from only calls for a High res sculpt. Any help or ideas would be alot of help as I'm pretty stuck on this. Cheers in advance.

Don't focus on negative space for the small scale stuff. Instead, look at how the nylon has peaks and valleys around the very small tears.

u would probbably benefit from moving the rip away from his eye. After all,you can see through nylons,so robbers don't have a need to rip holes for eyes.
Further more, nylon material has kind of structure that makes it hard to rip across "both" directions.U can get a long rip,but its hard to get a circular rip on nylons, unless the material gets stretched that much so it looses its elasticity. Then it wouldn't fit onto face, but instead you would have some parts hanging from ripped edges.

Thanks for the help guys. The rip around the eye is part of the concept so I kinda have to keep that bit in I like the idea of the material becoming less elasticated so that small areas fall from the hole. That might solve some issues. I'm messing around with masking & alphas to see if I can get the thin stands between and around holes look natural.
