Tileable Stone Wall Texture

Here is a texture I made today, I would love any critiques, or opinions on this.Thanks.

    Those highlights look ehh, try to make them smooth and sharp, not wrinkly and distorted. Complement the shape of the rocks.

    Yeah, I guess I'm in agreement with Nowak about the highlights. I'm not big into that look that people call "hand-painted" nowadays but because it seems like that is where you're trying to go, a smooth and sharp highlight would be best. On any other even quasi-photorealistic texture, I'd like your highlights almost as-is but would blur them just a wee bit.

    Whatever...doesn't matter...do what you want. :)

    How 'bout that mortar though...I mean the space between the rocks...is that dirt? is that Mortar? What is it? Does is look like what it should be?

    Oh hey, one other thing...

    Your highlight is showing up in your normal map. No good if you ask me...why? Cuz highlights are made of light and don't have bumps. They are not physical.

    Yeah I have been getting the same critique from my friends. I am cleaning it up and kinda changing the stile a little more. As for the normals, this was my first time using nDo2, so I was kinda playing with it. This is by far not the final product. As for the mortar, I was going to make it kinda like a mossy dirty mortar, But failed on that.. lol. Thanks for all the help tho, I will put up my newer one later tonight.
