Nice little animation but I have a small point of critique... you have a nice weight behind the flail and his whole body emphatizes that, however the moment the flail impacts the tail seems very still. What I would expect is some kind of ripple (wave) going through the whole body because of the downward move carries on (see a rope).
Nice model, nice textures, even a nice presentation (agree with ZacD about lighting though)
at 0:02 and 0:03, i think you need to re-work the body extension, look at some real snakes, they coil up and then launch forward, the motion you have right now just looks really un-natural.
You have a very impressive piece here! Some small tweaks suggested; at several points it looks as if the flail "hangs" in mid air. Check out the first wind up around the 0:01 mark, there is a pause where it seems to lose all influence from gravity for a moment. Once you see it, it is very noticeable the rest of the time. This happens again around the 0:04 mark as well. The secondary decorative chain hanging off of his back spikes suffer the same issue.
All in all a great piece. See if you can add some follow through and some more weight and fluidity to the movement and I think you've got a portfolio piece for sure!
Hope this has been helpful to you. Keep up the great work!
Can you post it without all the textures and lighting, its a bit easier to focus on just the animations without all the fancy rendering. From what I can see the body movements look really solid, but the flail has some very awkward motions. It becomes very obvious when it moves behind him in the first scene.
There's something I don't like about the dash back animation. His torso area scoots, and then the rest of the body just kinda slides, it doesn't really look natural, I'd like to see a bit more of the s snake body movement in that part of the animation.
