Hey guys,
Looking for some initial feedback on a small project I'm starting for February. It's a low poly game project for One Game a Month (either for UDK or Unity) in the style of a DS game.
So far I've begun modeling the main character, an alien robot, who crash lands in an area infested with zombie vegetables and plants. It'll primarily be an exercise in texturing for me, but any feedback on the initial model(s) would be appreciated too.
So far the model is 483 tris.
I'm thinking a third person camera, almost Diablo style, but not so far away.

I think it could use a couple optimizations, perhaps. Simplify the teeth to planes, and maybe make it 5 sided too.
So far I'm enjoying low poly and low detail hand painting, goes quick, which is great for One Game A Month projects
I did a paint over to show you what I mean. I added some faux baked on glow around the red lights to give them some depth and just tweaked the saturation and contrast on a lot of the colors, plus added a lot of scratched and noise.
I don't think the orange (?) guy is really working at all in design or presentation.
I think across the board you need to work on really sharpening up your textures. It's extremely important when you're working with these sorts of low spec assets that you really make every pixel work for you. The Robot is working quite well in that respect. The veges could all use a bit of work.
I started a full time job about a week ago, so time is at a premium, but I try for at least an hour a day
