Hi there,
can anyone share their experience with textures to be used with their models regarding licence ? Do you guys paint your own textures or are you using some textures stocks ? Do you have any bad/good experience. I would really appreciate your point of view. Thanks in advance.

About the content, personally I'd like the textures to be as neutral as possible so I can add my own stuff on top of it, instead of spending time cleaning it up.
I just think that none of the membership plans is attractive to big studios. It's cheap but the download limits are too low, they seem geared towards individuals or small studios.
I'm a bit surprised about amount of textures to download in our plans.I'll think of something to improve this.
My question was aimed somewhere else though.I'm getting questions from people if they can pack our textures with their models and then post them on other sites.I've heart that no many sites allow that.It is fine with us anyway.
Thank for you reply. We are always open to any suggestions to improve our service.
For me, the worst parts is when you have to choose to either have a high resolution close up texture, which you have to tile in photoshop and delete the pattern, so you dont have too many tiling going on when spread across the object. or you have an accepatbly part of the pattern, but in a bad resolution.
also, bad naming is awefull. if i for instance want to make some specific flower i dont want to need to identify it from the pic. its easier if its named properly.
i dont know. why should one want to include a totally unchanged downloaded texture into their models? with pohotsourcing you always need to make adjustments, to get the feeling across you want to. Cgtextures says this about the topic:
- Selling 3D models bundled with modified versions of the textures, when the texture is customized for the 3D model
And i think that hits the nail. If the texture is not specifically modified for a model, its exactly the same as downloaded and then its just a repost.
As far as licensing goes, once again openness is king. There is no royalty, our only real restriction is that you cannot just resell our textures, modified or otherwise. Our license is also maintained after subscription.
naming is a bit tricky but I'll definitely have a look into that. I've had some feedback about wood same way...
reselling and reposting is just happening once in a while but thanks to all people who coming back to us for they textures it is not such a big issue since they prefer to download from us or other sites rather than from some place where is obvious that is just repost...
