Is there a name for the specific process of creating a set of textures on a power of 2 grid, so you can cut out sections on a plane and place them how you like in a 3D program? I'm trying to find tutorials on the Photo Shop specifics of this process but I'm not sure what to call it.

Did he create a low poly, UV map it, explode it, duplicate it for high poly, create high poly from duplicate, reassemble (Tutorial starts around here) and then bake?
