Hey guys, long time no see
I've been away from the community for a while but I figured it's time to put some new stuff up.
I've taken the initiative to work on a series of monster hunter creature sculpts because I love the game so much. Here are a few sketches and WIPs!
Here's the latest in the series - White Diablo, a dessert wyvern

here's an earlier sketch that took about 6 hours, Rajang the golden lion, also from MH universe!
Could you let us know a little bit about how you render these?
^
Great looking stuff man!
these are rendered in Octane. It's a GPU render that I purchased forever ago as a beta. Now that it's completed I'm starting to do more work in it, I quite like it so far. Normally I would do this in Vray but I like the real time feedbacks!
Rajang? Grrrrrr....
Don't mind the salt, though. These are awesome!
Got some more sculpting done along the neck area where the scales start to blend into the head. Since I'm taking this all the way I figured might as well do it right. I will post some screen grabs in Zbrush tonight... got some more kinks to work out with the specular. It's catching too much light and too bright for my liking for the fan shaped piece in the back...
I've been out sick for a good week, so here are some updates that don't matter that much
just did some re-sculpting in the scales running down the throat to the neck and bettered the transitions of the scales fading into the head and the jaws. And I added more details to the teeth and that's about it. Now that I look at the render they're a bit pointless because you don't see them too much, but it makes myself feel better knowing that I made an effort :P
Do Barroth next!
I played tri on the wii with friends and it was up until barroth I thought the game was pretty okay ish, but after we defeated him, I really started to get into the game.
The feeling of taking him down was a feeling of accomplishment that I never actually experienced in any other game.
I thought I'd do quick renders with environments of Diablo's natural habitat. People who played the series would know :P Though I think I would like to take this back to a studio light setting and put it back on the bust pedestal for presentation in the end. There will probably be less disctraction that way since it's not really an illustration I'm making with this guy...being just a head he is.
