maya stretch problem after Uv Mapping

like the title says.

i made a sword, modeled half of it, mirrored = no problem.

then i fixed the UV mapping for the texturing, and after that i tried to combine the parts that i had made ( like before), but now when i mirror it, it stretches ( see picture)....

anybody that knows how to fix this ?:S

    Check the pivot for the object -- it looks like you built it off to the side. Make sure you build your sword with one of the edges touching the origin. Other things to look out for when mirroring in Maya: delete your history, freeze transformations on the object and make sure it is not part of a group that has construction history. Also, how are you mirroring the bottom half without a cut along the center? If it is still a huge problem you can always scale the sword in one axis to get it back to the width you want.
