I have an Apex cloth sim setup and working well in Maya. I followed along with the Nvidia tutorials:

APEX Clothing Tutorial with Maya using a Trench Coat: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2tJSUOYHOSA"]APEX Clothing Tutorial with Maya using a Trench Coat - YouTube[/ame]
APEX Clothing Tutorial with Maya: Exporting to Unreal 3: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=erM-wLDx-xw"]APEX Clothing Tutorial with Maya: Exporting to Unreal 3 - YouTube[/ame]

The problem I have is a strange behavior where when I export my fbx the mesh that I applied the cloth sim to does not appear upon import into UDK. Then If I attempt to continue and plug the .apex component into the clothing assets part of the skeletal mesh the cloth part of the mesh does appear, but the rest of the skeletal mesh disappears. I feel like something has already gone wrong at this point because this is not what happens in the Nvida tutorial. Also when I export the Nvida trenchcoat sample myself that seems to work fine and the coat is immediately visible when I import it into UDK. If anyone has any ideas about what may be going wrong I would be happy to get your feedback/input. Thanks.

Here are my test maya scene and udk package of my exported assets: http://joshstoker.com/misc/apex_test.rar

I am also interested in seeing if anyone has any ideas -- I had similar results. I was eventually able to get my apex data into UDK, but as a separate mesh. I was never able to get a skeletal mesh with apex data attached. I was also never able to get the apex data to sim without having it either move (via kismet) or have something collide with it. It just seemed to sit there frozen (even when wind direction and speed was applied). I shelved the experiment since the process was so cumbersome.
