Inspired by the Mad Max movies, I've been working on a post apocalyptic car. The car is based on a '69 pontiac gto, and I added various features to make it more useful in a harsh environment.
Before I move on to making a lowpoly, I'd love some feedback!
The only thing that bother me a little is the tripop on the roof top, maybe a custom made
attachment would be better IMO! It could be more backwards, so that the gunner use it from the back of the car!
What happend to the doors? They'r just part of the main body? You have some huge soft edges as well. Like on the back window. Would be a great detail if you went over the cuts so that it looks like it's welded.
muuahaha, i loves me a mad max rat rod. It's looking great, there are some things you could fix, like sltrOlsson, and CougarJo, mentioned. Adding some door seams, unless the owner welded them shut, general lee style. The body does have kind of a doughy feel to it, i think its the way the damage has been done, getting a couple more crumply hard edges in there might help. Reversing the mounting bracket like CougarJo mentioned, might help, although i do like the silhouette of the gun on the car on the first shot where it is now. Great job though. would love to see it textured.
Thanks for the feedback! The bodywork does indeed look a bit soft in maya compared to zbrush, so I will have to try and add some hard edges where appropriate to add a more metal feel to it.
I also tried moving the machinegun back like you suggested, aswell as adding the missing door weld seams. I think it goes well with the makeshift, rugged style.
Having it dented up is no excuse for goopy edges! That curve at the back of the side windows is quite off, you need to tighten things up so it doesn't look like molten plastic.
Also your dents aren't really convincing me; they look like clay or something, metal crumples with sharp edges (a bit like paper). This looks obviously Zbrushed.
@Xoliul I followed your advice and tried to correct the curve at the back window (looking at the reference photos again I noticed I had completely missed important shapes, as well as the trim around the window). I scrapped the previous dents and made new ones, this time with more definition, hopefully less doughy.
@jordan.kocon I followed your advice and the weld came out much more convincing.
