Hello! I thought I would start one of these because I really want to watch my progress. This first batch of images will be everything in chronological order up to this point. Critiques are of course welcome! I'm a pretty big fan of hand painted stuffs, so that's mostly what I like to make. Let's begin:

@Fenyce - I was actually going for a Hyrulian sort of look so I'm glad it's translating as such!

@CJFerguson - Love Kingdom Hearts!

@Pixi - Thank you! There are quite a few out there, but I mostly just study a lot of texture work from other people. Study, reference, practice... etc.

Here's another update, watched some Pixar movies (Finding Nemo and The Incredibles). Felt like painting some clouds, going to probably be using them for my environment for the Escape contest.

I've also been messing around with some normal maps, and trying to sculpt some stuff. Will post those later.

@Fenyce - Thank ya! I agree, the tiling of the texture is quite obvious. I guess I was hoping that the shape of whatever model of pipes I'd put it on would hide the repeating elements. :poly128: (This is my new fav emoticon by the way)

@ CharLady - Thanks! For the most part I use a hard round brush, but I will also use the charcoal brush for blocking out color fast. I also think the charcoal brush can be pretty good for when you're just trying to get really smooth gradients, but you still want a little separation of the brushstrokes.
