0x10c (Pronounced 10 to the c) is a sandbox-type science fiction game being developed by Mojang. So far features include a ship editor, fully working and programable virtual 16-bit computer. planned features include engineering, space battles, seamless space-to-planet transitions, mining and trading, laser guns, and an open universe with both single-player and multiplayer variants.
Basically to me it sounds like Minecraft in space, an extremely open game with lots of options for how to play the game. I'm excited to see how it turns out and I'm really enjoying the art work (by Eld) so far.

How are they going to enforce this?
Looking forward to seeing how integrated the computer is, I loved redstone but it was so bloody flawed.
hope someone mods in Newtonian physics.
I also wondering how much is randomly generated and how interaction with the space vs planets are going to be, is each planet going to be sort of a minecraft world, or are you just floating outside the planets?
The style looks great, eld. Great stuff so far.
Can't wait for a playable version.

There's a team of fans trying to develop it on their own under a different name. Wonder how that will turn out.

I was really excited for this game, I even began learning some of the basics of assembly in preparation for this games release. Hopefully someone else will pick up the torch.
I'm good here
Also, post from notch on the subject: http://notch.tumblr.com/post/58707926941/so-thats-what-im-going-to-do
but oh well gotta deal with it,
at least got new lesson from Notch (again) "I want to do smaller games that can fail. I want to experiment and develop and think and tinker and tweak."

Shipbuilding was going be more akin to substractive room-creation rather than placing blocks.
IP stays with mojang, any projects that wishes to do a clone of the project are both encouraged and on a legal basis allowed to do that given they don't use assets or names, you can't put a copyright on an idea
