Hey guys, I've been doing animations as sort of a hobby next to modeling for a number of years, and what i tend to struggle with most is having the speed continuous and fluent. Usually some parts are too fast, and some are too slow.
The techniques i use to animate include using lots of link constraints, and whenever i try to scale the length of certain segments once i'm done, the timing of the link constraints goes off and the whole animation usually fubar's.
Does anyone have any practical tips on how to avoid this?

In max you can right click the timebar and choose "configure", then turn on "show selection range". This allows you to grab a range of keys and scale them. Pretty handy for adjusting timing, the other part is just tweaking the curves. Monsters curve editor tools can help with that a bit.http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=57061
