Placements in the game industry

Hey guys,
I am a student in second year at university and i have been looking for a games design company to do a placement for the next academic year. Ive been looking for placement jobs as a 3d artist, but im not finding many placements. does anyone know of any game companies in the uk that do placements?

Lionhead do, but generally they take technicals and you have to apply well in advance (when I left last year, applications were for 2014).

You'll have a hard time finding an industry placement as a second year art/design student unless you have a particularly good portfolio.
