Light Mapping Question

Hey Guys,

Real quick question. When lightmapping a scene that has two meshes using different textures, can you attach the meshes together to uv a lightmap on channel 2 and then detach.

I understand that the uvs are going to overlay on uv channel 01 which is not what I want in the end, but for the time being does that work?
