How to test dota 2 set ingame?

Hi, community.
Finnaly I have finished my set. Many times I have seen that people can test somehow there items in dota 2.
As I guess, there is a guide somewhere, but I cannot find it. I know about GFS scape, Studio Compiler, AlienSwarm SDK, but that only helping to import smd, animation keys & oth thing like that. And as I understand I need to compile my items for dota somehow. Can anybody give me a right link on that topic?

I think you can previewing them with the modelviewer. not sure.

The idea is to test directly in game, view the portrait and etc.
