Correct material setup in Modo 601 for UDK

Hey everyone, I'm trying to create some game assets in Modo 601 and I'm having some trouble with materials and UDK... the problem is that the materials don't appear on my model after I import it into UDK.

The UDK docs are rather vague on the subject (or maybe I just don't understand) but since I know for a fact that more than a few members here use Modo and UDK without much trouble (most recently I learned that the guy who created the one-texture-environment project which was featured on the UDK website used Modo) so I figured I'd ask :)
