I can0t find any info on the main site on this , but I remember some people where saying the new 5th update woudl have featuered a 64 version , where can I read that and how can I do to update m 4th version 32 bit to a 64 bit?
ZBrush 4R2 is still 32-bit. It is Large Address Aware, which means that on a 64-bit OS it can use twice as much RAM as is possible on a 32-bit OS. This allows it to use up to 4 GB.
Between HD subdivision levels and SubTools you should be able to accomplish most anything. After all, HD allows up to 1 billion polygons -- vastly more information than even an 8K map can hold. HD details can also be exported as color, displacement or UV maps. SubTools of course allow you to break models up into smaller components with minimal increase to RAM use. This means that even without using HD you can get to extremely high polygon counts. ZBrush 5 is going to be 64-bit. No release estimate is available at this time.
I was thinking of buying Zbrush 4R5 but I didnt want to feel dumb for doing it if ZBrush 5 were to come out soon. If you buy 4.5 will you get upgraded to 5 when it comes out? How does that work?
OK so as long as you buy the license you always get the new version. Thats very cool of Pixologic considering us 3D guys need to continuously learn the new tools
There has been some suggestion on the official forums, I think by staff/mods, that they will have to start charging again at some point. I expect the fee would be pretty minimal however. Then again there's always the counter-risk that the price of the program can increase when the next version is released, as it has in the past. Even a purchase + and upgrade fee might still prove cheaper than a $100 bump in the price.
