[3dsMax] F3 Wireframe and J outline

Every time I hit F3 to view a wire, the J key viewport selection show selection outline toggle resets to on. It never used to do that in previous versions, I could just hit J and it wouldn't bother me again.
I hate the thing and always turn it off as soon as I start modelling. It's now driving me insane and I can't get used to it. I've just hit the J key like 50 times in the past 2 hours.
Is this a new awesome feature to improve my workflow that I can disable, or am I doomed to be taunted by that selection outline every 5mins?
