I wanted to share that we're now offering live online web classes! Our 1st class will cover from start to finish on how to create a photorealistic torch flame inside of UDK. Watch the announcement video and final FX below.
Hey Bill, nice job on this release! Always happy to support your VFX tutorials. Great timing too, these are the type of particles I use at work and have been meaning to get something like this going in unreal. The last 3 chapters look exactly like what I'm looking for. Good to see a chapter on MacroUV's this topic isn't mentioned very much and it took me a while to figure out how this stuff works so I'm glad its in there to help others.
@blood_falcon: Thank you, that means a great deal to me. You're right, MacroUVs are sparsely covered but incredibly powerful. And honestly, there are only a few steps to get it going. Cheers!
Thanks man! I really get a whole lot out of your vids, (just picked up your latest, and will be getting ground attack tomorrow). Keep up the awesome work!
Thanks a lot for these tutorials man! I've been wanting to expand my knowledge on VFX and cascade for a while, and these tutorials are perfect I've grabbed them both over the last few days, plus the free ones. Best value tutorials around, easy to follow and practical subjects and examples. Great stuff, well worth the price!
Awesome Simmo. Thanks for your support, and make sure to keep your eyes peeled for my new tutorial and a special livecast tutorial I'm about to announce!
I wanted to share my latest video in the VFX Quick Tip series. This short video covers alpha erosion in particles (also known as alpha dissolve or black-point fade). A great little tip to get great results with smokey materials.
I'm pleased to share that we have a brand-new free tutorial live on the site, and with a new instructor! Fred Hooper has come aboard imbueFX to share a quick tip on triggering particles and dynamic lights in UDK. Please enjoy!
Hello all, I'm excited to share our newest & most ambitious release on imbueFX! This 3 volume series covers the entire pipeline of creating an explosion from Maya Fluids into UDK.
And it's a beast too, with over 22 chapters and just shy of 4.5 hours of content! Available now in imbueFX.com. Thanks!

Yup, it looks like payment went through. Can you tell me if a novice cascade user can follow along with this program, or is it tailored more toward advance users only? I would like to think i should have no problem following along having made and modified a few basic particles over the years as well as having modest experience with the material editor- but I just wanted to be sure.
The map I am working on right now for my Kickstarter project has a heavy emphasis on fire as a light source (http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=127458) and the stock UDK mobile fire particle is no comparison to what you are teaching. I'm hoping to expand upon what i learn from this and create a larger scale fire variation for buildings and things such as rubble piles similar to whats shown in my (dated) thread.
The class is rated as an intermediate level course. As long as you have some basic understanding of cascade and the material editor, I think you'll be just fine. Plus if you have any questions, just ask! That's the great thing about live classes.
Your scene looks very cool! Just to note that if you're using the mobile version of UDK, a lot of the material work we cover in the class won't apply to you. The material editor is different and more simplified when running normal UDK, and things like UV distortion and macroUVs aren't supported. You still will be able to make a very convincing effect however.
If you're planning on having this placed in your scene repeatedly, remind me at the end in the Q&A session to show you how to use instance parameters with particle systems. It's a neat little trick and will help you get a lot more out of a single particle system.

We actually just recovered from a huge site crash only a few minutes ago, but we're back up and running and orders should be running smoothly.
