yall are depressing me...

I here alot of depressing news about the games industry about people getting layed off, and when I look at there portfolios I see that some of these people are talented and have experience. It leaves a bad taste in my mouth seeing this and even though I wont be able to a game artist in 4-5 years it still breaks my heart.

However, as I see it now, the economy is at fault, but just like all the times before, it will get better. ive done some research and this is what I see happening.

1) Mobilgaming is predicted to explode.

2.)I see alot of indie studios growing into legit larger studios.

3.) Steam will only get bigger

4.) Digital download

I see a bright future for games. How about you?

interesting series to watch BTW

i'm doing this business for a long time now. to be honest: not much has changed. when i did stuff 10,15 years ago, places got shut down, others opened. what nowadays is called indie, was the same stuff, i.e. andrew braybrook or others did back then. every year games came out with great tech and suberb quality art. i thought "how did they do this, i can never reach that..", but with more and more experience, it was nothing special anymore. and i predict: it will stay that way. tennis is pong. diablo is nethack. mario is..eh..mario.
the only thing that might has changed, that less original stuff is produced and everything got a little mor ebusiness oriented. but even 20 years ago, there were games with massive scale and content.
so don't worry, it always looks harder then it looks..;)
