Cheers for that reference image. Yeah I see what you mean with the chin, I still need to adjust the face and break the symmetry. I haven't actually started with skin detail yet, saving that for after the hair. And I can't seem to make normal maps work with Vray for some reason so I still need to sort that out. I recommend using SolidRocks to help with your rendering times.
You can see from the zbrush image that I'm using alpha planes for the hair but it turned out pretty crap when I rendered it so I'm still thinking about how to do hair... Might try using fibermesh.
Hmm...What software are you using for this? Max?
Do you have more info about whats wrong with the normal map? Id have thought its as simple as plugging your map into the bump texture slot and switching it to a Normal Tangent. Maybe theres something in Vray youre meant to adjust, but I wouldn't have a clue about that.
Will this be a realistic portrait? If so you could consider using a displacement map rather than a normal.
I see what youre saying about the hair, I've been looking into Vrays fur and hair and there are some pretty nice results I've seen online, you could look into that?
What was your workflow for creating her eyes? I've heard of guys using an SSS2 for the Sclera and vrayMtl with reflection and refraction turned on for the Cornea.
Never mind I sorted out the bump map lol. The eye is really simple just sss2 for the inner eye and a glass material for the outer eye. I'll look into some vray hair tutorials cheers. And @Grorum the renders are still really low res right now as I'm just testing and my computer is really slow, that's probably what gives it the phone feel lol.

Great work HPhung, what are you using to render her in?
I think maybe the chin looks a tad long at the moment. Are you planning to add further skin detail?
Here's a good picture of her skin pores/moles without airburshing etc. - http://cdn01.cdn.justjared.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/02/alba-eye/jessica-alba-the-eye-premiere-57.jpg
I'm planning to use Vray for the first time on my current character, so it'll be cool to see your workflow.
