Polycount website very slow?

The last couple of days I had issues with Polycount website loading very VERY slow, and I was wondering if anyone else had this issue? It's not just my PC at home, it's the same at work.

Techs are busy pouring coffee over the Polycount servers but it's just not working.

I thought it was just my crappy South African internet, but it's somewhat nice to see it's not only me. Getting this 9/10:

No real connection failures, but as of today it's been very slow, yeah.

Now that their number dropped down to around 700, the pages are loading much faster for me, but I'm curious as to why so many people were on that section at one time? Did I miss an important event or something?

Yeah, it got slow again, at one point it was around 700 and I averaged 5 seconds per thread, now it's back to 1300 peeps and I'm averaging 30 seconds per thread.
