Maya Transfer Map problems

Hi.

I just wonder about options that I've selected on the image. Do they work ? Really, because I can't see this. I've seen many tutorials showing how to render map, and people there are useing some options from other tabs, but I think they use maya renderer to bake images like normals or diffuse. Can I just use mental ray ? If not what for are these options? For example I have options for Final Gathering, but is it working ? I don't see it or I miss something here. I will be thankfull for your respond and any help :)

    What are you trying to do exactly? If you bake a normal map, or color map it uses Maya common output, but AO uses mental ray. It will tell you in the map options when you select what you are baking out.

    I am trying to render my diffuse + FG from high poly model ( it is wall with windows etc ) to low poly model and this low poly is simple plane. I know in 3ds max people render stuff like this, they use sky light and they just bake FG + diffuse from high poly to low poly.

    Well if you bake a diffuse map it is done with maya common output, unless you override it, but don't do this. A diffuse is color only and will not have any lighting information in it, assuming that is what you want. You probably want to use an AO bake and/or the shaded map option to get your lighting information in your map. You can also mess around with baking a custom map which might give you what you want.

    I know. But what for are these FG options in mental ray common tab in Transfer Map ? :) I don't get it still. I have my scene set up with simple point light and I've created sky , FG is ON so I want to bake fg+diffuse to may texture. I know i can separetyle bake ao etc. I've been playing with custom shader But still can't figure it out :P Cheers!
