Looks very cool. But yet another villain that wants his revenge? I mean it was cool when Khan wanted it but can't they at least try something else? Have them explore new systems, have some unknown entity be the antagonist or maybe have a more political reason to fight the enterprise crew... you know, something more star treky? I thought the klingons would be the villains this time.
But whatever, I'll be watching this anyway
One of the problems I always felt they had with the movies, they just kept trying to copy Wrath of Khan. Great movie that it was other bad guys could never hold a candle to Khan. Trek 6 was pretty good but they just kept going downhill. At least the very first film didn't have the usual scene chewing bad guy.
I loved the latest one. This one looks stellar too. Yes, it doesnt look like the typical startrek everyone knows, but thats because they arent on a ship most the time. I love where they are going with these movies just because it adds back story.
I though someone said this was a star trek trailer? :P
Well, it looks really interesting for sure, but dunno, too easy to judge it one way or another.
What i'm missing in ST movies, especially the latest one, is what i like the most about ST (series).
Space exploration, exploring new forms of life, exploring humanity itself, showing very positive future for human kind; Showing of problems in society, etc.
What defines ST for me, is episodes like in TNG, where Data is treated like a machine, a property of someone, or when he "creates" his daughter; the episode where they say romulan kid (iirc) commited certain crime just because he was romulan, and picard trying to show just how wrong and sad that was.....this is what star trek is all about for me. Exploring humanity and exploing space.
Now, again, this movie may be exactly like that, i'll judge that when i see it, but just saying, i kinda miss this in (most) ST movies, especially last one.
I think they are focusing too much on action, which kinda feels even more wrong since st is a lot about peace....
Well, will see, i'm sure it's gonna be great movie, at least as far as i can see from this trailer....but i'm not sure if this will be good star trek movie....
