As part of a project for my game development class, my group, decided to make our own character. We're using the same skeleton that they used for their male character, but I am having issues...
I'm no rigger, I've never even painted weights until now lol, so im happy the right side even works like it does.
Obviously I think somewhere in mirroring the joints from right to left, the orientations got messed up somehow, or atleast that is my best guess as to what is happening.
I was wondering if anyone that has ever used their skeleton has tips on how to paint the weights, or might understand how their skeleton works to make painting weights easier.
And if anyone has any tips on how to make re-orienting those joints in maya less pain less that would be great too...
More pictures...
Cheers

Oh sorry didnt read all your post. Hurrm there is a Joint Orient tool in Maya. Orient to world cordinates And then you will have to manually adjust the arm and leg joints.
current orientation
could it be something else?
